Crater Lake, Oregon

Crater Lake Volcano

By Brittany

Crater Lake is located in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. Geologically, Crater Lake was near a subduction zone. It was formed when the Pacific Plate was sliding under the North American Plate. The name of the geologic plate Crater Lake is on is the North American Plate. The aspect of earth science my study would come under is volcanoes. There are no disasters associated with my study. There are many recreational activities associated with Crater Lake. There are many campgrounds surrounding the lake and boats are permitted on the lake. There are no environmental or economic aspects that relate to Crater Lake because it is a dormant volcano. Crater Lake formed as a stratovolcano.
